A better way to work
When we were building our dental practices, we realized that if we worked in a large business, there would be an entire department dedicated to doing what just the two of us do. We needed to get rid of unnecessary work, and let our team focus on what they do best: delivering an exceptionally smooth patient experience.
A lot of back-end tasks were getting in the way. Important work, for sure, but still ancillary. For example, we needed the process of compensating guests and associates to be smoother. No individual step for paying associates or guest hygienists/assistants was complicated. But there were enough moving parts that we were making mistakes. When we first built Dentalope, we double-checked its calculations constantly. Our aha moment came when we saw that compensation mistakes were because of our math, and Dentalope was catching them.
The generic consultant advice is that we need more people, or a better team, or the right people in the right seats. We believe in people. In our experience, there comes a point where adding more people doesn't help deliver better care. At some point, we need a parsimonious team, where everyone is focused on the patient experience.
